About EE-Oz

EE-Oz Training Standards is the ElectroComms and EnergyUtilities Industry Skills Council (formerly Qualifications Standards Body of Australia) Ltd. It is 'a not-for-profit' industry training and skills standards and advisory organisation. It serves and works in partnership with Australia's ElectroComms & EnergyUtilities industry. 

EE-Oz Training Standards also works closely with nine other Industry Skills Councils (ISCs) to ensure all industries across Australia have a strong voice in the vocational education and training system. To learn more about other industries click on the ISC logo.

To have ElectroComms and EnergyUtilities (EE) competencies acknowledged as critical to Australia's technological relevance and economic competitiveness. 

Industry Skills Council

EE-Oz Training Standards currently operates under a charter, previously from the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) and more recently the Department of Education Science and Training (DEST), as a declared national Industry Skills Council (ISC). It is one of ten national Industry Skills Councils, and is a member of the ISC Forum.

Led by an Industry Board

EE-Oz Training Standards is led by a  Board of Directors comprised of key industry representatives. EE-Oz Training Standards is currently the peak vocational education and training (VET) advisory and standards qualification setting body for ElectroComms & EnergyUtilities. 

EE-Oz is an intermediatory body

A key feature of EE-Oz Training Standards is its brokerage, facilitative and intelligence-gathering role.  It brings together key industry groups, industry and enterprise practitioners, regulators, technical experts, training experts and the community.  This ensures collective ownership and currency of VET products and advice and, improves industrial relations rapport.

Major products, consultative mechanisms and services developed to date include National Industry Training Packages, VET Industry Plans and Labour Market Statistics for the Industry, related training and assessment resources, electrical licensing and cabling registration information, and coordinating local advisory networks for:

  • Electrotechnology
  • Communications
  • Electricity Supply (Generation)
  • Electricity Supply (Transmission Distribution and Rail Traction )
  • Gas Supply (Transmission and Distribution)

EE-Oz Training Standards has a proven track record in contributing to and implementing National Training Reforms and engaging industry and training organisations in implementing its Industry training products, policies and advice.  It has provided a critical leadership and advisory link between industry and governments in ensuring key Government Industry policies and initiatives are promoted, accepted and implemented in the ElectroComms and EnergyUtilities Industry.

The use of ElectroComms and EnergyUtilities competencies benefit business.  Their use improves work performance, safety, and productive effort, which leads to successful prosperity of business, industry, individuals and the community, nationally and internationally.
